My second novel, Reign, in The Unwanted Series, is coming Tuesday, October 27th. I’m super proud of this book, not only of the story but the decision and process that got the story here. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, and I appreciate it more as a result.
I began this series in 2016. I should have followed with my next book, but I got stumped and defeated for many reasons. I’m not a full-time author, so I have to hustle and plan with my full-time job. I got to a point where I was tired and unsure of my path. Was it worth it? My inner demon of a critic got to me—so many debates in my mind, including if I was taking away from my family responsibilities.
I decided to educate myself and move forward. I invested in me and went to a couple of writer’s conferences. A process of pre-production and collaboration inspired me. I outlined a new story (coming soon!). I was ready to start anew, then met my editor and others who said: “finish the first series.” It was the best advice. I’ve learned so much in this past year of writing, and I’m building my skill set. This book is getting great reviews, and I feel it’s stronger than the first. I hope you see the character growth as well as my growth as an author. In the end, it's all about the journeys we go on.
